The Urdd is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Elvey MacDonald at the age of 81. Elvey was Director of the Urdd Eisteddfod for 25 years between 1974-1999 and his pioneering leadership contributed significantly to the Urdd’s century. Over his time with the Organisation Elvey travelled thousands of miles attending meetings across Wales giving the best support to each town, village and city who hosted the Urdd Eisteddfod.

Elvey developed the Eisteddfod into a festival ensuring every child had fun and a great experience - whether they get to the stage or not. Elvey made a special contribution to the arts by creating a festival that offered unforgettable opportunities to generations of Urdd members, and for that are extremely grateful. As an Organisation our thoughts are with Elvey’s family in their bereavement.Add
