International Projects

The Urdd’s International Team, which is part of the Communications and International Department, creates opportunities for members to experience the world, represent Wales and build connections with young people in other countries.

The work is about much more than travel. Through partnerships with youth organisations, charities, universities and communities across the world, members have opportunities to perform, volunteer, learn, share the Welsh language and work with people across different languages and cultures.

Looking beyond Wales has been part of the Urdd’s vision since its early years. In 1933, Urdd members sailed from Wales to northern Europe, and in 1948 the Urdd held its first international camp in Aberystwyth.

The Urdd was also one of the first organisations to welcome young people from Germany following the Second World War. That same spirit of friendship and cultural exchange continues through projects across the world today.
