PABO's vision of 'learning, understanding and celebrating' will be woven into the arts youth festival with a range of activities. This year will be PABO's first year at the Eisteddfod, launching the partnership's initial series of events.
As part of the partnership with PABO, the Urdd Eisteddfod will also offer a 'Sa Neb Fel Ti’ (There’s no-one like you) stage in the Nant Caredig area - a wellbeing area presented for the first time at last year’s Urdd Eisteddfod in Carmarthenshire through the support of the Royal College of Psychiatrits. Drawing on the title of one of Eden's songs, the 'Sa Neb Fel Ti' stage will be a place for individuals to perform without having to compete, to celebrate themselves and what makes them unique.
Under the PABO banner, Eden will also hold workshops and sessions with other artists on the festival site throughout the week. It will be an opportunity for visitors to listen to discussions about self-confidence and learn about being comfortable in your own skin through the arts.
In addition, Eden will host the PABO night at the Triban Festival on Saturday night, 1 June in Meifod with exciting artists taking part. This will be a night for people of all ages to come together to enjoy and celebrate PABO’s concept.
Eden says: “The Urdd has played an important role in the lives of the three of us and so it is great to be able to announce the partnership between the Urdd and PABO. The hope is to spread PABO's messages and values with the Urdd's various audiences, inspiring the next generation to learn, understand and celebrate themselves.”
In line with the Eisteddfod's campaign to be more accessible, the festival will also offer a safe space for neurodiverse and autistic visitors, where various activities will be held throughout the week.
Llio Maddocks, the Urdd’s Arts Director says: “The Urdd Eisteddfod is so pleased to announce this partnership with PABO, as we commit to creating an accessible and welcoming Maes for everyone. The work Eden does in discussing mental health, neurodiversity, and self-confidence is extremely important, and we look forward to sharing those messages with our children and young people.
“Eden is a phenomenon, has fans of all ages, and there will be something for everyone at the Urdd Eisteddfod in May. We will collaborate on Nant Caredig's activities with PABO and the Royal College of Psychiatrists to ensure that there’s a safe space beyond the competing, and a place to celebrate what makes you unique.”
Maldwyn will be the home of the Urdd's National Eisteddfod in 2024, which will be held between 27 May and 1 June. This will be the first time the Urdd Eisteddfod has visited Maldwyn since 1988 and it will be located on the fields of Mathrafal Farm, near Meifod.
