Yusuf is from Grangetown in Cardiff and is a Diversity and Inclusion Sports Development Apprentice, helping to organise sports activities across the city, he is also completing his Essential Skills Qualifications with us and is learning Welsh. Yusuf has been nominated for using the Welsh his has learnt enthusiastically and for his hard work and committment.
Why did you decide to take a Sports apprenticeship with the Urdd?
I have always been passionate about sports and I believe that sport has the power to bring people together and create a more inclusive society. I was drawn to the Urdd'sapprenticeship because of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, and I knew that this would be a great opportunity to learn from experts in the field.
In what way has developing your (Numeracy, Communication or DigitalLiteracy) skills added towards your apprenticeship?
Developing my numeracy, communication, and digital literacy skills has been essential for my apprenticeship. I have used these skills to track my progress, communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, and create engaging and informative content. These skills have also helped me to develop my problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which are essential for success in any field.
What do you enjoy most about your job and how has improving your Essential Skills helped?
I enjoy most aboutmy job the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I love seeing the joy on people's faces when they are able to participate in sports that they may not have thought possible before. Improving my Essential Skills has helped me to be more effective in my role and to better serve my clients.
What does completing your apprenticeship in Welsh mean to you?
Completing my apprenticeshipin Welsh is a source of great pride for me. Welsh is an important part of my identity, and I am committed to preserving and promoting the language.
In what way has making Essentia lSkills part of your Apprenticeship effected your personal developement?
Making Essential Skills part of my apprenticeship has had a profound impact on my personal development. I have become more confident in my abilities, and I am now able to communicate and express myself more effectively. I am also more organised and efficient, and I am better able to manage my time and resources. These skills have helped me to become a more well-rounded individual, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have developed them.
What do you hope to do after completing your apprenticeship?
After completing my apprenticeship, I hope to continue working in the sports development field. I am particularly interested in working with young people and helping them to develop their sporting talents. I also hope to use my skills and knowledge to promote diversity and inclusion in sport.

Would you like to add anything to your story? How have you reached where you are? What have your greatest challenges been?
My journey to becoming Apprentice of the Month has been filled with both challenges and rewards. I have learned a great deal about myself and my abilities, and I am grateful for the support of my mentors and colleagues. The greatest challenge I have faced has been over coming my ow nself-doubt. I have learned that I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to, and I am excited to see what the future holds.
