Leah Williams comes from the Rhondda and is a classroom assistant at Llyn-y-Forwyn Primary School. Leah completed a Level 2 Activity Leadership apprenticeship with the Urdd last year and was eager to further develop her skills. Therefore, she decided to take the opportunity to undertake a Level 3 Sports Development apprenticeship with the Urdd.
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship with the Urdd?
I truly enjoy physical education. The opportunity came up to further my skills and to learn something new, so I grabbed the chance!
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
I’ve always had an interest in sports, and this apprenticeship has given me many new skills to use in my role as a classroom assistant, not only in P.E but in the classroom too.
What are your interests outside of work?
With two children, I haven’t got much spare time for myself! But I love watching rugby and doing yoga!
How has doing the apprenticeship affected your personal development?
This apprenticeship has developed my confidence with lesson planning and running the rugby club.
What are you hoping to do after completing the apprenticeship?
Hopefully, I’ll be doing my level 4 in teaching assistant.
Describe your experience of doing an apprenticeship with the Urdd in 3 words!
