Recently, members of the Urdd traveled to southern Kenya, an incredible and inspiring experience. Sports sessions were held alongside leadership and team-building workshops for the girls who organize the football leagues in each community. These sessions included workshops aimed at improving communication, listening, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in order to strengthen their leadership abilities.

In addition, multi-sport sessions were provided to over 620 girls over the course of five days. It was heartening to see effective collaboration among the girls, with individual confidence growing as they participated in challenging and constructive activities.

During the visit to Mteza, the group had the opportunity to receive a warm welcome from the village elder, who encouraged the girls to seize every opportunity to develop as individuals. They were urged to use the skills they had learned to move beyond the community to better places and ensure a brighter future.

Much was learned about the culture and language of the villages, and each day began with a welcoming dance and song from the local people. Among the places visited were Danicha, Mrima Wa Ndege, Mteza, and Mikomani.

As one of the young people on the trip said: "What surprised me the most is the level of enthusiasm and commitment these girls have for sports, despite facing challenges. The way they embrace sports, regardless of their differences, really stood out. It was a powerful reminder that shows the power of sports."
