August 2024 – The Urdd's third visit to Ireland

Following the success of the 2022 and 2023 trips, the Urdd once again travelled to TG Lurgan in Connemara to teach a new group of young people from Wales about the Irish language, culture, and the process of creating music.

Twenty-seven young people from Wales, along with Urdd staff and volunteers, travelled to Connemara and stayed for four nights. During the course, a brand-new co-production was recorded in Welsh and Irish, an adaptation of the song "Dog Days are Over" by Florence and the Machine. There was a lot of fun recording and filming this song, including many colourful scenes on the beach and at the gig.

On the final night of the course, a gig called Féile D was held, where the young people from Wales and Ireland had the opportunity to perform and appreciate each other's songs. "Barti Ddu" was performed by a group from Anglesey, along with "Defaid William Morgan," "Sbectol," "Blaenau Ffestiniog," and many more Welsh classics. The evening was broadcast live from TG Lurgan's YouTube account, and you can watch it here - TG LURGAN X URDD Féile D.
