Why did you start your apprenticeship with the Urdd?

The apprenticeship with the Urdd is available through the medium of Welsh, which means I can study in my first language.

What do you enjoy most about your job and how has the apprenticeship affected your work?

I enjoy working with children and helping them to learn and reach their full potential.  The apprenticeship means I can study while working.  I complete coursework at home and the practical assessments at work.

What does completing your apprenticeship in Welsh/bilingually mean to you?

Given all aspects of the Cylch Meithrin arein Welsh, it’s very important to me that my apprenticeship is also in Welsh.

What are your interests outside work?

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking on the beach, or in the woods.  I also enjoy reading and going to the theatre.

In what way has your apprenticeship contributed to your personal development?

Doing this apprenticeship means I can develop professionally alongside my job.  It also means I can update my skills.

What do you hope to do after your apprenticeship?

I want to continue working with the children at the Cylch.

Describe your duties.

As a part of a team, I am responsible for the care and learning of children from 2.5 years old to school age.  We create opportunities for children to learn through play. Children’s welfare is paramount to using the Cylch and is central to everything we do. We monitor the children’s development and reflect this in our practice constantly. Listening to the children’s voicesareimportant so we can follow their interests.

Describe your experience in 3 words.

Interesting, wonderful, insightful.
