Eisteddfod yr Urdd Eryri 2028 to be held in Caernarfon area

For the first time since 1956, the Urdd and Cyngor Gwynedd have announced that the Caernarfon area will be home to Eisteddfod yr Urdd Eryri 2028.

Eisteddfod yr Urdd is a travelling festival, which takes place in a different region every year. This year’s Eisteddfod yr Urdd is being held on Ynys Môn, and is visiting Newport, Gwent for the very first time in 2027.

“We are so excited that Eisteddfod yr Urdd is returning to the Caernarfon area in 2028, where the Welsh language is heard naturally on the street, and which is alive with community and artistic activity.

“The support we have already received from Cyngor Gwyedd and the wider region for hosting the Eisteddfod in Eryri in 2028 has been fantastic. A site on Bethel Road, Caernarfon, is being considered, and we look forward to announcing the exact location following further discussions between the Urdd, Gwynedd Council, and local landowners.”

Donations

We are launching a CAMU scheme (Mistar Urdd Savings) to ask the people of Eryri and beyond to make a monthly contribution towards the festival for a period of twenty two months.

Gift Aid can be added on top of that to increase the amount the Eisteddfod will receive.

We realize that the ability to make monthly contributions varies for everyone, and therefore there is an option to contribute £20, £10, £5 or another amount of your choice – we would be grateful for every penny!

To be part of the CAMU scheme through a standing order, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Log in to your bank account using your bank’s app or website.
  2. Select “Payments”.
  3. Select “Standing Order”.
  4. Choose “Transfer to someone’s personal or business account”.
  5. Select “Business account”.

  7. Enter your name as the payment reference.
  8. Select the amount you wish to pay and a convenient date for the payment to be made each month.
  9. Email llifarian@urdd.org or contact a member of your local Appeal Committee to confirm that you have set up a standing order.
    You will receive an email at the end of the month of your first payment to confirm which Appeal Committee you would like your contribution to support and to check whether the Urdd can claim Gift Aid on your donations.

Eisteddfod yr Urdd 2028 will be held in the Caernarfon area of Gwynedd, north Wales the first time since 1956.

Yes, competitors and visitors alike require a ticket to gain entry to the Eisteddfod Maes (site). Early bird tickets will be launched in Spring 2028, and tickets will also be available to buy during the festival.

Visitors can enjoy competitions, live music, performances, family activities, exhibitions, food stalls, science activities and arts and crafts.
