The idea for an Urdd youth theatre company began during the 1970s through conversations between Emyr Edwards and R. E. Griffith.
Its first production, Cwymp ac Adferiad Dyn by John Bowen and translated by J. M. Edwards, was staged in 1974. The first company included 40 young actors and technicians who brought around 90 characters to the stage.
Since then, the company has given generations of young people the opportunity to perform, create and gain experience of professional theatre through Welsh.
